What to Expect
Congratulations on reaching this point! If you're reading this, chances are you've received the news that you've been taken off the wait-list and have had your initial contact with your ISC (Independent Support Coordinator). We understand that you're juggling a lot, especially when it comes to ensuring the best for your child. It can be daunting to sift through heaps of information and navigate unfamiliar territory. Rest assured, we're here to assist you in maximizing the benefits of your Katie Beckett benefit.
Don't forget!
It is very important to note that your services are not officially approved until your ISC contacts you after the meeting and provides you with the effective date. Any expenses incurred before this effective date are not eligible for reimbursement.
Before your Meeting
Your Katie Beckett Part B meeting can be held either in-person at the location of your choice or virtually on a secure platform like Microsoft Teams or RingCentral. Your assigned ISC will reach out to you to schedule this meeting so that we can apply for your child's services as soon as possible.
Your ISC will also be emailing you important documents about the program prior to the meeting. Please check your spam folder if you haven't received an email or reach back out to your ISC if you need further assistance.
At your Meeting
You can expect your initial meeting to be longer than a typical visit, averaging 1 - 1.5 hours. At the meeting, we will review a lot of key information with you including, but not limited to:

Who we are and what we do for you and your child

Katie Beckett services and providers

Program requirements

The Person Centered Support Plan (PCSP) and your child's goals /outcomes

Answering any questions or concerns that you might have

Annual forms and consents
After your Meeting
It is important to us that you feel confident in making an informed decision about service selection for your child. It is up to you whether you make the decision at your meeting or opt for a little more time to consider your options.
Once you've made your decision, it's almost time for us to move forward with a service request. If annual forms and consents were not already completed at an in-person meeting, then you'll receive emails from Adobe Sign on behalf of your ISC with the forms and consents that we must have signed prior to applying for Katie Beckett services.
Your ISC will also let you know when you can expect to receive a copy of your child's PCSP draft so that you can make any suggestions for changes.
